Nickeled and dimed by the airlines…web conference anyone?

Recently, Peter Greenberg’s Travel Detective reported that major US airlines are going to start charging for a second checked bag. While some say it was inevitable, due to rising fuel costs and such, I for one am wondering what’s next. So, you purchased your ticket for $300 or so and with that you get an assigned seat. Then you board the plane, and the flight attendants come around to see if you want to rent the bottom seat cushion (which can be used as a flotation device, don’t forget), for $25 extra?!

As a former frequent business traveler myself, I can tell you that spending the better part of a day on multiple airplanes, then stuffed into a compact rental car, to get myself and my laptop to a one-hour meeting is not a fond memory. I don’t know about you, but I can think of better ways to spend my time. Web conferencing anyone?
