When Did You Remember?

I left my home early this morning to hike Camelback Mountain. It was dark when I started but it was pretty much routine. I passed several people along the way and exchanged greetings… but still routine. When I got to the mountaintop, I noticed a small American flag sticking out of the rocks and wondered to myself why someone would have placed it there. I sat briefly for my usual meditation and prayer and then headed down the mountain. As I descended, I noticed someone headed up the mountain carrying a large American flag, and struggling to carry it up - and then it hit me…today is 9/11!          I stopped in my tracks to say a quick prayer in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 innocent people who lost their lives that day in the World Trade Center, at the Pentagon and in that field in Pennsylvania… to say thanks for the many freedoms we enjoy and the tremendous blessings we have in this great United States.

The seven years have passed quickly but we will never be the same as a country. I would urge everyone to take a few moments out of your busy lives today to give thanks for the many blessings we enjoy but so often take for granted.
