This is the third part of a four-part series on how to deliver a successful webinar. The first two posts in this series gave tips for planning and configuring a webinar. Now, we’d like to help you effectively rehearse for your webinar. Well-organized rehearsals will ensure a flawless event execution.
Content
The first thing you will want to do is make sure all of your finalized presentation content is uploaded into your webinar software for use during session. Depending on how complex your online event is, your content could include any of the following:
- An engaging and error-free PowerPoint presentation (don’t forget to use well-placed graphics!)
- Website URLs and/or media clips (it’s always a good idea to test these before-hand to make sure they work and display correctly)
- Surveys, polls, or feedback questions (involving the audience directly keeps them paying attention!)
Roles and Session Flow
Before the rehearsal, you will want to finalize the roles everyone will take during the session. Determine who will be leader/moderator, co-host, assistants, and session recorders and write-up a session flow document that details who will say what, when. This is just as—if not more—important to do for a live online event as it is for an in-person conference.
You will also want to specify what the expectations are for the beginning and end of the session. What will be the cue for the leader to begin the session? Similarly, when will the co-host know to stop feeding Q&A questions from the webinar audience to the presenter? The more you can nail down in advance and communicate about the event flow, the more smoothly it will go.
Now that you have practiced your webinar presentation and ensured that all content you’ll need is ready to go, the only thing left to do is execute. Our next post will cover the day-of-webinar checklist.
