iLinc Web and Video Conferencing Blog Collaborate and communicate online

We wrapped up iConnect 2010 yesterday and it was fabulous! This year we took the plunge and held our annual user conference 100% virtually and what a difference! We had nearly 1,300 people registered and 800 participated over the 2 day conference. That was about 3 times the number of participants we had last year. Our customers suggested we make the event virtual this year so that more organizations and more people within their organizations could attend…so we did and they came!

These days, with everyone looking to cut costs, it’s only natural to be focused on delivering the most cost-effective training, webinar or presentation. This of course raises the question of when to use Internet audio versus a traditional teleconference. Teleconferences are an easy way to get started with web conferencing but usually the cost of this option is greater. Depending upon the goals of your session, the audience you are targeting and your available budget, the answer may differ. We’ve all been to school — the desk, chair, textbook, #2 pencil, and a teacher at the chalkboard. I remember a handful of classes (even in college) where the instructor would break the class into smaller groups. Small groups serve a great purpose in formal training programs – brainstorming, activities, sharing of personal stories, and more.
