To Share or Not to Share - That is the Question!

When presenting in an iLinc session, you are provided with many different tools that you can use to deliver your content. These range from PowerBoards, White Boards, WebSync, Polling Questions, and of course the most versatile option – Sharing. Whenever you are looking to present content that doesn’t seem to fit into the other options, Sharing is the tool you should turn to! Whether you are looking to walk your students through a Course Syllabus PDF or you’re demonstrating your own software program to a prospect, the iLinc Sharing tool is the tool that will get the job done for you.

Web Conferencing: Science? Art? Both? Neither?

How much preparation do you put into your online sessions? For webinars or virtual classes where you are presenting a specific topic or subject to a large audience, you probably do a prep session or 2 to get your ideas down, your timing worked out, and your slides finalized.

But what about other less formal, ad-hoc online sessions?

For any type of online session, establishing best practices for development and delivery of your content is important if you want to keep your session on track with your agenda, deliver valuable information, and meet the expectations of your audience. Additionally, bringing some interactivity and “edu-tainment” to your delivery helps your audience to stay engaged and interested in your subject matter.

Is There Anybody Out There?

With the July 4th holiday last week, I missed posting another entry into my weekly series of postings… I hope today’s makes up for the absense.

As a session leader, I’m constantly trying to understand if the people attending my session are paying attention to my presentation. In a quick Google search to see if others are struggling with this, I found a few papers and articles, including an article from last summer’s edition of the Internet Computing magazine and a paper from 2002 discussing if online students are actually learning.
