Video Conference: The New In-Person Interview?

With the rise in unemployment, competition for jobs continues to grow stiffer. One job opening could produce hundreds, often thousands, of applicants. This massive interest in each job opening has a negative impact on potential employees and on the companies that are hiring.

For the people who are applying, it’s becoming more and more difficult to stand out from the crowd. In many cases, applicants may have to submit their resumes to hundreds of jobs before securing a position. When they do secure interviews, they have to spend precious time (and gas money) traveling to the company’s office. Plus, if there are no initial screening criteria in place, they may end up spending time applying for a job that is not a great fit for them—or the hiring company.

Every Day is Earth Day with the iLinc Green Meter

There are many holidays that serve as once-a-year reminders of things we really should be doing and thinking every single day. Some good examples? Mothers Day, which reminds us that we should love, respect and stay in touch with our mothers as often as possible. Administrative Professionals Day, which reminds busy executives to be appreciative of the staff members who make their jobs easier—and do the little things that often go unnoticed. Or how about birthdays? Yes, we only “turn” a new age once a year. But shouldn’t we celebrate being alive more often than every 365 days?

Honor Dr. Seuss and Go Green

A Poem from iLinc in Honor of Dr. Seuss’ 105th Birthday

“Long, long ago,” when Lorax was last near,
his word of warning was “perfectly clear.”
For the trees and the people, he made an appeal
BUT…
“Business is business
And business must grow.”

With a tear in the eye and sadness in his heart,
Lorax prepared to depart.
He went away forever from that place,
“through a hole in the smog, without leaving a trace.”

The years, they have passed
and Lorax is long gone.
Forgotten by many he MAY be,
but why?…Let’s remember.
We can still save a tree.
